Written especially for HR professionals and business people, California Employment Law: An Employer's Guide is the essential resource for avoiding the many perils and pitfalls California employers face.

This valuable reference is updated to address new developments in 2020, including:
  • Amendments to the California Family Rights Act extending coverage to employers of five or more employees and permitting employees to take leave to care for a broader range of relatives.

  • New and more extensive exceptions to the Dynamex ruling and AB 5 regarding independent contractors.
  • The ballot initiative allowing certain “gig economy” workers to remain independent contractors.
  • California’s new pay data reporting requirement requiring employers to report pay according to sex, race and ethnicity.
  • New requirements for providing harassment training for employees.
  • The new requirement that employees be paid for time spent waiting for, and undergoing, security or bag checks at the end of their shift.
