Mandatory District of Columbia Changes
The Department of Employment Services has updated its minimum wage and Accrued Sick and Safe Leave Act of 2008 posting with mandatory changes. The revsions clarify information and reflect regulatory changes.
When you order a D.C. and Federal Labor Law Poster Set with 1-Year Update Service, you will receive an updated poster including the new Wage Theft Prevention Act posting. The poster update will also include revised versions of the district’s Equal Employment Opportunity, Family and Medical Leave Act, Parental Leave Act, and Unemployment Insurance postings. These postings were updated with minor changes.
Please note that the D.C. poster will likely also be updated with a pregnancy accommodation posting in the near future. The district is expected to release a new mandatory posting related to the Protecting Pregnant Workers Fairness Act of 2014, which took effect on March 3 and requires employers to accommodate employees who request reasonable accommodations due to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. The Act requires employers to post information about employee rights under the act, but the text of this notice has not yet been published by the District.
Washington, D.C. has also released a new Protecting Pregnant Workers Fairness Act posting that all employers must display in English and Spanish. The act requires D.C. employers to provide reasonable workplace accommodations for employees whose ability to perform job duties is limited because of pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding or a related medical condition. The posting also includes information about filing a complaint. The Act took effect March 3, but the posting text was not available until June 1.
