Cancellations, Returns & Transfers


Can I return a product that I bought at a SHRM conference?
All SHRMStore sales at conferences can only be returned before the conference ends. After the conference ends, all sales are final.
What are the policies for cancellations, returns and transfers?

The policy varies by product and is defined below.

Educational Programs

All cancellations must be in writing using our online form. Should the program be cancelled, SHRM is not responsible for any penalty incurred by purchasing a nonrefundable airline ticket or related travel or personal costs.

Special note: Participants who cancel their registration for the SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification Preparation (3 days), the Virtual SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification Preparation Seminars, the SHRM-CP Power Preparation Program, the SHRM-SCP Power Preparation Program, or the Virtual Essentials of Human Resources course (4 weeks) should follow the same guidelines above, except they will have to return the SHRM Learning System or SHRM Essentials of Human Resources materials unopened or be charged the purchase price of $725 SHRM Member/$950 Nonmember for the SHRM Learning System or the purchase price of $385 SHRM Member/$460 Nonmember for the SHRM Essentials of Human Resources. Your refund will be equal to the registration fee, minus the applicable cost of the materials and a $250 cancellation fee.

Transfers are permitted one time only within the calendar year. Transfer requests must be submitted in writing via e-mail, no later than 10 business days before the program start date.

You may transfer into another program that will be held before December 31 of the current calendar year. You may also choose to transfer your registration to another SHRM event within the same calendar year (not a SHRM Educational Program) but will be responsible for paying any price difference (if applicable). If you are unable to attend the program to which you transfer, you may send a replacement. If you are unable to send a replacement, you forfeit your registration fee. All transfers must be made in writing using our online form.

Special note: Transfers will not be permitted for seminars held in Canada.

Specialty Credentials

Confirmed purchasers may cancel and receive a full refund minus a $250 administrative fee, provided that you have not begun any of the eLearning modules included as part of the package, and that the educational program component for which you are registered has not occurred and is not scheduled to begin less than 10 business days from your cancellation request.

If you find that you are unable to attend the program you are registered for, you may select another upcoming program date by calling SHRM Customer Experience. If you are unable to attend at an alternative date, you forfeit your registration fee.

Unused items may be returned for a full refund (less shipping and handling) within 30 days of purchase. No items will be accepted after 30 days or if they are not in a condition to be resold. For PMQ purchases, a $250 administrative fee will apply to all refund requests and any request to cancel the entire order if the course(s) have not been completed.

If the wrong product was purchased, or if the license was issued to the wrong user, please submit a refund request directly to SHRM eLearning within two business days of your purchase time. Please send refund requests to eLearning@shrm.org and include the order number and the reason for your refund request. If the course(s) have not been completed, you will be eligible for a full refund.Unfortunately, we cannot transfer or "clear" user licenses, as license assignments are permanent. If a course was assigned to an unintended user, a new license must be purchased in order to be replaced. Refunds can be requested for the original license; however, the refund policy still applies.
SHRM ConferencesA cancellation must be in writing using our online form.

Visit the conference website for the most up-to-date information regarding that event’s cancellation policy. All SHRM Events can be found at www.shrm.org/events.

An attendee has the option to transfer their registration to another SHRM event and is responsible for paying any price difference (if applicable). An attendee may also transfer their registration to another person.

All requests must be received in writing using our online form. If a SHRM member transfers his or her registration to a nonmember, the nonmember must do one of two things: 1) Pay the difference of the SHRM member and nonmember price at the time of the transfer or 2) Become a SHRM member at the time of the transfer.

SHRM Membership

SHRM membership is nonrefundable and nontransferable.

SHRM Accessories, Apparel, Books, & Merchandise

If your order allows for cancellation, call SHRM Customer Experience for help. We will do our best to cancel your order. If it has already shipped, you will need to return the merchandise if it is eligible for a refund or account credit.

The SHRMStore return policy varies by product; reference your order confirmation and/or packing list for details. The packing list included in your order indicates the specific return instructions for the item(s) you ordered. Please reference this for more information.

Automatic Renewals


How can I opt out of automatic renewals?
Your membership will automatically renew unless you opt out of automatic renewals. You can opt out at any time up until 24 hours prior to your renewal date, by contacting us at 800-283-7476, Option 3, or by going to My Account and selecting the opt out option.
